"IPL5 Match40: MI vs DC - Mumbai beat Deccan by 5 wickets"

Mumbai beat Deccan by 5 wickets

MUMBAI: It was a low-scoring game best remembered for the brief duel between Sachin Tendulkar and Dale Steyn, and also for Hyderabad skipper Kumar Sangakkara's shocking decision to drop himself because of poor form. In the end, Mumbai scampered their way to a morale-boosting five-wicket at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday night.

On a lively pitch, Mumbai, buoyed by a four-wicket haul from their best bowler Lasith Malinga and finally, the return to form of skipper Harbhajan Singh, who took two top-order wickets while conceding just 13 runs in his four overs, shot out Team Hyderabad for 100.

The hosts, in return, were rattled initially when Steyn came out firing on all cylinders, cleaning up Richard Levi's stumps with the first ball of the innings and then threatening to take a wicket with every thunderbolt that he unleashed.

The South African speed gun was supported well by 19-year-old seamer Veer Pratap Singh from Bengal, who consumed the prize scalp of Sachin Tendulkar. Once Steyn was done with his spell of four overs for 10 runs and two wickets, Team Mumbai heaved a sigh of relief and rode on Rohit Sharma (42; 48, 4x4, 1x6) and the in-form Ambati Rayudu to finshing off matters.

In a blunder, Sangakkara decided to drop himself and on a wicket that aided the seamers, this hurt the side.

Scores: Mumbai 101/5 (Rohit 42, Steyn 2-10) beat Hyderabad 100 (Dhawan 29, Malinga 4-16, Harbhajan 2-13) by five wickets with 11 balls to spare
