Bangladesh v NZ, 2nd Test, Mirpur, 5th day: Bangladesh impress but rain forces draw
Bangladesh 282 (Tamim 95, Wagner 5-64) and 269 for 3 (Mominul 126*, Tamim 70) drew with New Zealand 437 (Anderson 116, Watling 70*, Shakib 5-103)
Overnight rain and a persistent light drizzle through the day ruined the last day's play in the second Test, in Mirpur. That meant Bangladesh had registered their second successive drawn series after finishing 1-1 against Zimbabwe in April this year. The 0-0 result against New Zealand, a team ranked higher than them in the Test rankings, is a fine result for the home side. They have now drawn three Tests against New Zealand in eleven matches.
The covers came on and off twice in Mirpur in the morning session, but they remained on since 11.00am. The rain never progressed into a downpour, but it was enough to bring everything to a standstill.
Mominul Haque, with his 376 runs in four innings, and Sohag Gazi, with eight wickets, take the top positions in the batting and bowling charts for the series. For New Zealand, Kane Williamson is the top run-scorer with 250 runs, while Neil Wagner's seven-wicket tally ranks the best among his team's bowlers.
Mominul, however, missed a chance to topple Habibul Bashar's record for aggregate runs in a series by a Bangladesh batsman. Bashar had made 379 runs against Pakistan in a three-match series in 2003. Mominul's tally is second on the list.
The two teams now play a three-match ODI series, starting on October 29. New Zealand depart from Bangladesh on November 7, a day after the one-off Twenty20.

Bangladesh v NZ, 2nd Test, Mirpur, 3rd day: Anderson's maiden ton hands NZ advantage
New Zealand 419 for 8 (Anderson 116, Watling 59*, Shakib 5-97) lead Bangladesh 282 by 137 runs
Corey Anderson scored his maiden Test century with a calculated dominance of the Bangladesh attack. His 116 led the way for New Zealand as they ended the third day of the second Test on 419 for 8 with a lead of 137.
Shakib Al Hasan's five-wicket haul was the only solace for the home side, who endured a late, 84-run ninth-wicket partnership between BJ Watling and Ish Sodhi. On a pitch that is offering more turn every day, the stand further dented the confidence of the Bangladesh bowlers. Watling was unbeaten on 59 and Sodhi on 53, the legspinner's maiden Test fifty.

New Zealand in Bangladesh, 2013-14: 'Will definitely miss Saqlain' - Gazi
Sohag Gazi, the Bangladesh offspinner, admitted he will miss spin bowling consultant Saqlain Mushtaq as he prepares for the home series against New Zealand.
This will be Gazi's second series without Saqlain, who has a 100-day per year contract with the BCB. Saqlain was with the team for the West Indies series in 2012 and the tour of Zimbabwe in May this year and although he had announced intentions of joining the team last month, the BCB's cricket operations committee preferred to use his services for the World T20 at home next March.

West Indies v New Zealand, 1st Test, Antigua
Neil Wagner has a strong chance of making his Test debut this week
The fast bowler Trent Boult and the wicketkeeper-batsman BJ Watling have been ruled out of the New Zealand side for the first Test against West Indies, starting in Antigua on Wednesday. Both men are suffering from quad injuries and they did not take part in the tour match against the WICB President's XI, a game in which the New Zealanders narrowly escaped with a draw, leaving 13 players available for selection for the Test.

Tino Best's 4 for 46 helped West Indies defend 264 in St Kitts and win the series against New Zealand
West Indies sealed their first ODI series win over a Test nation other than Zimbabwe and Bangladesh since April 2008, barely overcoming a heroic century from Ross Taylor, who returned after missing four matches due to a shoulder injury. Taylor was up against too many opponents today - an offspinner conceding two runs an over, a fiery quick bowling at close to 150 kph, and his own batsmen, only one of whom managed a strike-rate of more than 60.

Dwayne Bravo smashed four sixes in 11 ball
Chris Gayle provided the substance, yet again, Dwayne Bravo provided the late blast, and Sunil Narine ended New Zealand's chase before it could even begin. West Indies completed their second big win over New Zealand to take the Florida and Twenty20 leg of the series 2-0. Already weakened by injuries to key players, including captain Ross Taylor, New Zealand had no answer to West Indies' combination of power, explosiveness and intrigue.

Jesse Ryder is the second highest run-scorer for Pune Warriors in the IPL so far this season
Jesse Ryder, the New Zealand batsman, is unlikely to be considered for a central contract or selected for the upcoming tour of the West Indies, according to David White, New Zealand Cricket's chief executive. White said that Ryder needs to prove his "commitment to the game" before he could be considered for national selection once again.
"No, I don't think so," White told Fairfax NZ News, responding to a question on whether Ryder's IPL form puts him into contention for the summer's tour to the Caribbean. "It is great that he is playing cricket again but he is a fair way from being considered for New Zealand.
"He needs to prove to the selectors and New Zealand Cricket his commitment to the game, and that means on and off the field. He needs to do a lot of work on a lot of things like fitness, attitude ... and be exemplary off the park."
