Mohammad Shami picked up three wickets and impressed both MS Dhoni and George Bailey. Rattled by Mohammed Shami's three-wicket burst with the new ball in the abandoned fourth ODI, Australian skipper George Bailey has instructed his batsmen to watch out for the rookie Indian pacer in the remaining games of the ongoing seven-match series.
Taken aback by Shami's pace and swing, Bailey said: "Obviously Shami bowled very well. He's someone we haven't seen in the series and he was a little bit quicker than what we expected. He certainly got movement off the seam," Bailey told reporters after the fourth one-dayer at the JSCA Stadium on Wednesday.
"That's something to be pretty aware of for the rest of the series. That's obviously what's going to be coming at us," he said. Shami rocked the Australian top-order but half-centuries from Bailey (98) and Glenn Maxwell (92) in a record 153-run fifth wicket stand enabled them to post a challenging 295/8.
However, rain played spoilsport when India were 27 for no loss after 4.1 overs and the match was abandoned with Australia continuing to lead the series 2-1. Amassing 318 runs, Bailey on Wednesday became the first Australia skipper to go past 300 in any bilateral ODI series.
Yet a modest Bailey said it was ridiculous for him to think of making to the Ashes squad in the Australian summer. "I think there's probably eight guys who have got a chance of playing in that Ashes team. It's so far away. It's just ridiculous to look at it," Bailey said.

Australia 295/8 (50 overs) India 27/0 (4.1 overs)
India require another 269 runs with 10 wickets and 45.5 overs remaining
The innings started with Shami on fire, plucking three early to put the Australians on the back foot. This followed with a match-turning stand between George Bailey and Glenn Maxwell, who chipped in with 98 and 92 respectively. India's batsmen will have their work cut out for them for the fifth match in a row (if you add in the T20 in Rajkot).

Chasing a stiff target of 304, the Australians rode on James Faulkner's brutal unbeaten 29-ball 64, which was studded with two fours and six sixes, to dramatically change the complexion of game and take his side home with three balls to spare. Adam Voges made a valuable contribution of 76 not out from 88 balls, which was studded with seven fours.
A hugely costly over by out-of-form pacer Ishant Sharma who gave 30 runs in the 48th turned the tide in Australia's favour after the Indians seemed cruising comfortably. It was a commendable show by the Australians and the Indians paid the price of the lack of quality death bowlers in a high scoring match on a good batting track at the PCA Stadium.
Earlier, Dhoni produced a magnificent late onslaught as he rescued India from a precarious 76 for four at one stage to single-handedly take the score to 303 for 9 after the home side were asked to bat. His unbeaten knock came from 121 balls with the help of 12 fours and five sixes. Virat Kohli was the other notable contributor with a 73-ball 68. But it was not the day for the Indians as Faulkner hit four sixes and a four in the 48th over bowled by Ishant to turn the match on its head. R Ashwin bowled a very good penultimate over just giving away five runs as Australia needed nine runs from the final over.
Faulkner ended the match in style with a six in the third ball of the final over as Australia reached 304 for six to win the match to the disappointment of the capacity crowd. The two sides now moved to Ranchi for the fourth ODI on October 23.

Ishant Sharma given a another chance to prove his blowing performance and India retained out-of-form pacer Ishant Sharma as well as the rest of the players as they named an unchanged squad for the final four ODIs against Australia, according to a Cricinfo report.
Squad: Mahender Singh Dhoni (capt.), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Vinay Kumar, Amit Mishra, Ambati Rayudu, Mohammad Shami, Jaydev Unadkat

India will look to keep the momentum going with another dominating display when they they take on a shell-shocked Australian team in the third cricket ODI in Mohali on Saturday. Having made a mockery of the second highest run-chase in the history of limited overs cricket, the Indian team would not like to settle for anything less than an overwhelming win at the PCA Stadium on Saturday.
As for George Bailey and his bunch of committed warriors, the quicker they get over the disappointment of that defeat, better it will be as this Indian team under Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s stewardship can decisively seize the momentum from the visitors. To chase a target of 360 inside 44 overs requires a Herculean effort, and the trio of Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have now proved that no target in the world is safe when they come out all guns blazing at the opposition.
Three immensely talented batsmen have completely different areas of strength but what binds the troika together is their ability to give it back to the opposition as good as they get. Dhawan’s 95 in Jaipur was all about brute power and taking the opponents by the scruff of their neck. Rohit’s 141 had the silken grace that has always been associated with this wristy Mumbaikar.
Kohli’s innings was all intimidation as he showed that why he is turning out to be one of the premier batsmen in limited overs format. His 52-ball-100 had everything. Skill, power, artistry all of which goes into the making of a brilliant cricketer.
As rival skipper Bailey had aptly pointed out at the post-match press conference in Jaipur, the Indian batting’s top seven is wonderful to have in ODI format. After a disappointing first match, the remarkable comeback would have certainly helped the Indians rejuvenate as they would like to go for the kill on another placid Punjab Cricket Association Stadium wicket which is expected to be full of runs.
For Dhawan, it will be like homecoming of sorts as it all started at this very venue with a smashing Test century on debut. With India’s top-three raising the bar, the likes of Suresh Raina and veterans Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh will also be itching to perform and make their share of substantial contribution.
The only worrying factor for Team India is its bowling which has conceded a whopping 864 runs in 120 overs so far (T20 match included) at a pathetic economy rate of 7.20 overs. While Dhoni doesn’t believe in tinkering with the playing XI, the pace duo of Ishant Sharma and Ranganath Vinay Kumar should not take their places in the team for granted.
Both have been dismal with the ball as they have failed to contain the run flow. Despite a heartbreaking loss, a positive aspect of this Australian team has been its batting which has fared well in all three matches.
Aaron Finch and Bailey have been in terrific form while Phil Hughes has been able to put behind his poor show in the Test series earlier this year with a lot of grit and application. Shane Watson has also made his share of contribution with the bat and the talented Glenn Maxwell has x-factor to change things around quickly.
The Aussie bowlers would have never have imagined the thrashing they would get after having bowled some really fast stuff in the first one dayer at Pune. Mitchell Johnson and Shane Watson were taken to the task by the Indian openers while none of the visiting team bowlers could escape the fury of Kohli’s long blade.
In all it will again be a battle between immense talent of the Indians and the gutsy attitude of the Aussies.

Dhoni finishes in his own style to win the T20 Against AUS in the first and final Twenty20 of Australia's limited-overs tour of India.
Australia 201/7 (20/20 ov)
India 202/4 (19.4/20 ov)
India won by 6 wickets (with 2 balls remaining)
Its all about
Yuvraj Singh, he shined in his comeback game and shown what he's capable of
lifting the spirits of Indian fans.
Shikhar Dhawan: "We have a very strong batting line-up, we got a
good start. We lost one or two wickets in between but Yuvraj and Dhoni
brought it back. The ball come on nicely to the bat, and the dew made it
come on even better. "
George Bailey: "You probably would take that (total), we were one
wicket further down than we wanted. You score 200, if you are going to
chase it down, today is the day. Yuvraj batted superbly. I was really
happy with the start, leaving Xavier a bit late, he only bowled three
overs."
Man of the Match is Yuvraj Singh: "Shed a few kilos, worked really hard in the off season, came with a
fresher mind, batted in the A games. I need some really good games to
come back to action, pretty good platform (talking about the A games).
I'm very confident when Mahi is around, he is one guy who goes after the
bowling. I just thought I would try and take the game to the end.
always a pleasure and honour to be playing tin the Indian jersey."
MS Dhoni: "Yuvi batted really well, really good start which was
important. We all knew australia would bowl well with the new ball, but
once the ball got wet and the seam got well.. one of the best batting
you can see in the shorter format. I think we've got quite a few big
partnerships, I didn't get too many opportunities to bat with him over
the past year. Thanks to Yuvi, who accepted the challenge of batting at
No. 5, he completed his goal in the best possible manner. I think
batsmen proved the point."

Tomorrow - India v Australia only T20 in Rajkot: Match facts, Thursday October 10, 2013 Start time at 1930 local. Watch live at Click Here!
Australia tour of India starting with the one-off T20 in Rajkot, kicks off India's home international season of 2013-14 following three weeks of Champions League action. The concept of the T20 series is still struggling to find context, and more so in a series like this, with the one-off match dwarfed by seven ODIs. By the time the tour ends, it's likely that the result of the T20 game will be forgotten and that memory of this tour will only be restricted to the result of the one-dayers.
Perhaps two ODIs could have been culled for the sake of two extra T20s, just to give the shortest format more context. It would also give a team a chance to come back in the series. However, from a commercial perspective, more ODIs generate more revenue so fans and players will have to be happy with this arrangement, whether they like it or not.
India's first T20 since December 2012, so it will be interesting to see how the group settles. Eight of India's T20 squad took part in the Champions League, and the rest have been busy taking part in various tournaments, including the A tours and the Challenger Trophy. There's no question of rustiness that tends to affect some teams at the start of a season. That two IPL sides made the final shows that certain key players have already warmed-up well.
Five of Australia's T20 squad were part of the Champions League final (Mitchell Johnson didn't play). The tournament would have helped them acclimatise to Indian conditions. Much will depend on Shane Watson to fire at the top, and given his IPL experience, it wasn't surprising to see him mentoring his team-mates at practice. They have Aaron Finch at the top who can provide strong starts and Glenn Maxwell, who can be relied on to finish an innings. James Faulkner had a very successful IPL for Rajasthan Royals as a left-arm seamer, and he will be a key member of the attack.
