Mumbai Indians beat Lions by seven wickets

Mumbai Indians beat Lions by seven wickets
Champions League Twenty20 - 11th match, Group A Lions v Mumbai Indians Mumbai Indians won by 7 wickets (with 9 balls remaining) at Jaipur

Mumbai stay alive with easy victory - Mumbai Indians 141 for 3 (Smith 63*) beat Lions 140 for 5 (Petersen 35*) by seven wickets

Mumbai Indians were huge favourites going into two previous encounters with Lions in the Champions League, and on both occasions they had come up short. This time, there was the added pressure of it being a must-win encounter and the challenge of a juicy pitch with pace that reminded the Lions captain, Alviro Petersen, of the track at his home ground in Johannesburg. Mumbai didn't buckle this time, though, coasting to a seven-wicket victory on the back of a typically power-packed half-century from Dwayne Smith and a superb spell from Harbhajan Singh.

Petersen: We were looking at 160, we looked good to get it early on, but lost our way. It wasn't quite like the Wanderers here, because it was a touch slow, but it was a brilliant wicket.
Sharma: There was something in the wicket and we used it to our conditions. Credit to the bowlers who restricted a good batting line up. In our practice games, Mitchell Johnson was bowling really quick, and that's really good for our team. There was pressure on us to perform and we got the result we wanted.
Dwayne Smith is man of the match: I know if I spend time at the crease, I will get runs, so that's what I tried to do. I can change my game, especially when we are losing wickets, and it's up to me to be smart and do that. I just have to be confident.
