Sri Lanka news: Six applicants for Sri Lanka head coach job
Sri Lanka Cricket has received six applications for the job of head coach as the deadline closed on Sunday, SLC's acting CEO Ashley de Silva has said. Current coach Graham Ford will vacate the post due to family reasons when his contract expires in January, meaning Sri Lanka will have a new coach in the year leading up to the 2015 World Cup.
Paul Farbrace, who was Sri Lanka's assistant coach during Trevor Bayliss' tenure, is believed to be among the applicants. Farbrace resigned after being wounded in the Lahore terrorist attack in March 2009 and joined English county Kent. He is presently the second-team coach of Yorkshire.
Among the others who are understood to have applied are Shane Duff, former trainer of the Sri Lanka team, and Ruwan Kalpage, former Sri Lanka spinner and current fielding coach.
There have also been attempts by SLC to secure the services of Peter Moores, the former England team coach who is now in charge of Lancashire, andStephen Fleming, the former New Zealand captain and current coach of Chennai Super Kings.
